South American Pipe Snake[Anilius scytale]

Anyone know anything about this snake? Captive or in the wild. Any info is appreciated.

You can find info on this snake in Bartlett's new book.
REPTILES AND AMPHIBIANS OF THE AMAZON. My sources disribe it as a burrowing species that eats frogs, lizards and other snakes.

I have kept Pipe/cylinder snakes (family Anilidae), but not that species. My experience was with Cylindrophus rufus which is Asian and fed on small mice. For that I found a bottom media of moist spagnum moss worked best.

Be advised these are not for the beginner as they are difficult ot maintain.

Do you have any more information on this species in captivity? I ask because i am writing a book; not one to be published, but just for my own personal use. i am going to make a new post for Cylindrophis ruffus in case anyone else knows any information on it.

I have kept them alive but I have never bred them. General maintenence is the same as for a calabar python.
