No more stinkin' anoles!

norml32 Apr 19, 2004 10:03 PM

After losing a few of my poor baby Paulsoni to diseases from feeding them $#^*D live anoles and house geckos and having a MITE!!!!!! showup on my of my three left living baby Paulsonis, I finally out of desperation took the last of my current batch of $#^*D anoles and froze them in tupperware. I then poured in some hot water and made 'anole soup.' Finally, I dipped in a few rat pinkies for my 14 inch female Isabel and mouse pinkies for my 10 inch Red and Gold Paulsonis and they all ate! All three of them!!! The Isabel ate three Rat pinkies in a row! She has refused pinkies for the entire year and half that I have owned her! Hurrah, hurrah...no more dirty anoles, no more $35 shipping charges and separate housing, no more loose lizards running through my house until my cats kill them and I find their dried up bodies on the floor...no more 'stinkin anoles!

The worst thing is now I see a few of my baby Paulsoni (they are all currently housed together)have mites! I never have mites! Damn those anoles. I am going to have to pull out the Black Knight tonight and sounds like bath time tonight. I hate using Black Knight with the little ones, but it is far too dangerous to my other animals so I am going to take the risk.

Read some of my earlier posts. I can't stress enough, the only thing people do by feeding anoles, frogs, or any other live foods, is turn them into the equal of wild caughts. There is not a frog alive that does not contain parasites and anoles are much the same, parasitzed and mite infested. If people will only learn the basics of baby candoia, they will have very few feeding problems. Babies like to feel secure so they like to attack from above. Place a small container with a hole in the top in the enclosure or a branch. Wiggle the food item from a distance with very long tweezers and if this doesn't work, try it with the lights out and only a night light on in the room. If all else fails. Get a mouse tail started in the babies throat and feed them about two of these a week until they take frozen/thawed pinkies on their own.
