Respritory Infection

What are common causes of RI? What are the Signs and what can be used to over come an RI? The reason I am asking is cause I went with Shredded Aspen Bedding for my baby Ball Python and I am just thinking ahead. I have heard that this bedding is nutoriuos for this. Lets just say that I am a precautious father! Anyone post I want to here opinions and so on!

Cool temps, too high humidity, too low humidity, stress, are all causes of RI. Your aspen is not going to cause any RI in your BP. I have heard of dusty pine shavings causing RI though. Make sure your BP can shed properly (aspen sucks the humidity out of my snakes).

...access to a warm area (92-95F) coupled with too wet conditions are the leading predisposing conditions leading to respiratory infections by common bacterial flora pre-existing in the snake. By providing belly heat under 10-20% of the floor coupled with humidity greater than 50% but NOT WET conditions you'll probably never experience a RI in your BP. Do not guess on your temps!
