Hi there, this question has been addressed several times in the past few weeks. If you scroll down a bit, you'll find some information and arguements on whether or not they require UV. Personally, I haven't seen a need for them in my rather limited experience, but then again, I don't see how it could hurt, if given at proper wavelengths, etc... although I don't think that we could ever simulate the intensity of UV that the sun puts out.
