new ball from white plains show

bigdee Apr 20, 2004 10:01 AM

Got this female sunday she will be the start of my ball python project. I guess i will get a het albino or pastel and from the prices it may be a het albino hopefully soon if I can find a male for a good price. Why are they importing so much balls and do they come from farms or something where they are mass produce? It must have been more balls sold at this show than anything, there was this one table with wc for $15 he must have sold all in 20min or so, Im also seeing alot of ads for 10,20,50 lots etc. What can I get 100 het males for this yr? what will be the range for male pastels?

04 100% het males may be about $200 from the big breeders, 04 Male Pastels probably around 1k-1.5k during the summer. You might get a better deal if you get on someone's presale. Good luck with everything.

Gravid females are collected and the eggs harvested. The hatchlings are then exported in quantity. Females normals are in very high demand. In fact, I expect the price of imported normal females to be easily triple that of the males once those boys in Africa get a clue. There will come a time when all these ball python morphs will trickle into the general pet trade and the demand for imported balls will dwindle. Hell, maybe this could actually drive the demand for normals even higher? Anyway, the demand for normals should be met by hets of simple recessive morphs and normals from those working with co-dominant morphs. Those ball pythons exporters in Africa should start considering another line of work for the future.
