Human methods to kill rodents...

cornsnake234 Apr 20, 2004 10:43 AM

Hi everyone!
I want to know... what methods do you use to kill your mices!? i've already think about CO2, but for the moment, is a way too expensive for me. So if anyone can give me their opinion about some human ways to kill rodents it would be appreciated!!

thanks

whacking and cervical dislocation.

Just hold the mouse by the tail and whack it's head off of the stairs/table/railing. it will convulse alot because of massive nerve stimulation. But it's dead.

take the mouse, and hold it by the tail, put it on a table (still holding the tail) use a ruler or stiff stic, put it behind the mouses head (right on the neck) push down, and quickly yank up on the tail. It is usually best to have someone show you this method.

A CO2 chamber should consist of nothing more than an airtight container and paintball CO2 tank with a hose connected into the side. A used CO2 tank is about $15 and the hose (called a remote) is about $10 used. A large tank costs about $5 to fill and will last quite a while.

Other ways are whacking or stunning the mouse and breaking the back by holding the mouse down with something stiff and yanking the tail. There are many other ways but most of them are not very humane.

actually breaking the BACK will do nothing more than immobilize it (usually) breaking the NECK will kill it.

Oops! You're correct. That's what I get for not proofreading.
