I have written posts on my recent "babies"as I like to call them, Eastern Box Turtles. 2 which are May 2002 babies and 6 which are September 2003 babies. Most separated in other homes. All eat Reptomin as their daily diet with extras.
My neice has 3 of the Sept. babes, which none of them have slept any winter yet and eat almost every day or every other day. They are growing fast!(4-5 inches).
2 more Sept. Babies are at my friends, hibernating this winter only, and have been starting to eat real good for almost a month now, except one tends to do the "flip" alot. They are about 2-3" big.
My 2, a May baby and a September baby are different sizes. My May Baby,(Shylo), is about 2-3", while my Sept. baby (Yellow Legs), is only about 1 1/2" big. They both slept on and off this winter only, and are now eating good, looking good.
My question is for my neighbor's turtle. She has the other May baby,(Baby Joe). She also has another turtle which was slightly larger than Baby Joe when she aquired baby Joe. This winter, both of her turtles hibernated. They are still in the "sleep" stage. They get up occasionaly to soak, and stil do not want to eat at all. Baby Joe's front foot/nails also look backwards in a way, the nails are not growing right. She went on vacation this week so I took the babies for the week to see what I can do, and I wake them every morning and soak them, and put food in front of them. What else should I do? Will they eat eventually, are they just slower than usual?
All of our heating ways are approx. the same too.
