hondo shed problems!

artsnakeb0y Apr 20, 2004 12:56 PM

i bought a couple pairs of adult tang hondurans from special k last year and they are exceptional, but one of the females has been shedding everywhere except under chin for months now..i've tried high humidity, soaking, and gently pulling it off manually...that stuff WON'T budge and i'm worried it may cause health problems.any ideas from you experts would be much appreciated.thanks!

can you post a picture? if it's retained sheds, it should soak off--have you tried soaking by putting him/her in a plastic storage box with maybe half an inch or inch of room temp water? if the animal rests with its chin in the water, and if it's just retained shed, i'd think it would come off. any chance it's scabbing, or some other prob?

unfortunately, i can't post a pic.
it doesn't seem like it's scabbing or anything, but it does seem that the scales are getting a little cruddy under there. i recently put some bacatracin on it(and worked it into the scales beneath a bit)to try and disinfect it until i can find a more permanant solution. it just doesn't seem to want to come off, and i don't want to rip the epidermis by being too rough.it's almost like it's adhered somehow.it hasn't affected her appetite or behavior.any suggestions?
