Seeking Advice for Sick Girl

DoorGunner Apr 20, 2004 02:21 PM

I have this beautiful black rat in my collection. She's wild caught and has been dewormed. However, she has now regurgitated her last two meals and I'm afraid there's a parasite in there causing this. I've had her for only about a month. Can anyone offer a diagnoses/treatment for this malady? It would be greatly appreciated. She is still under quarantine at this time, and environmental conditions are perfect. Thanks for your trouble.

what are the conditions you're keeping her in? What substrate are you using? If you can, get a fresh stool sample and have a vet look at it. You may want to take it to a qualified vet anyway. EP

If your snake regularly regurgitate - this mean seriously digestion problem. First aid in this situation is giving of activated charcoal by stomach pump (2 tablets pound in powder and mix with water on 200 g body weight) and make an injection of ascorbic acid (1-1.5 ml on 200 g body weight). Then you must wait near one week, until charcoal dont get out of snakes bowels and give they one very little feeding object like newborn mice.

I use this everytime when my snakes regurgitate and its works.

Thanks much for the advice. I'm taking her in to the vet today. We shall see what we shall we.
