lizard social life

I've spoken to a few people, and alot of them say not to mix species, but some say that as long a temperament, habitat, and size are in agreement, it's fine. For instance: At one of my local exotic pet shops, they had a CWD, a Green Basilisk, some Golden Gex and some Marbled Gex all in the same terrarium. The guy said they got along just fine. Since looks can be very decieving, I wonder if the guy was right.

Are there any species that are not near copies of each other that can definitely be mixed?

Adult CWDs and basilisks readily make a snack out of any of those geckos.
Also both gecko species you mentioned are rock dwellers, which do not appreciate the rainforest setup you need for basilisk and WDs.
Anyhow, mixing species is possible and I have a lot of good expereinces with it.
But you have to do your homework to select compatible species.
Together with CWD or basilisks you can keep tokays or big Bufo species, to give examples.

Hope that helps

"Bufo"?

Also, aren't tokays mean?

Yes, Toads!
Tokays are among the least agressive lizards at all!
Definitely!
....only in too tiny tanks and wiht non appropriate housing they appear to be agressive.
