i have a hondo milk snake, its belly scales have turned milky, but the rest of the snake back and eyes are clear. except it has developed about 6 white flakes on its back they dont rub off and look like dandruff. is this normal prior to shed or some other problem. i am a new owner and would like to make sure everything is ok??

Sounds like your snake may have had residual scales from it's last shed. These were present but invisable till the snake went into it's next shed and they can be seen since the skin went milky. If this is the case then it should shed off with the rest of the skin.

I would be tempted to post on the milksnake forum as I seem to remember some sort of skin thing with milks that can be a pain....something like a fungus maybe? I honestly don't remember but I would post there. If you don't think it looks normal and you have had the snake more than a few months I would go with your suspicions.
