This morning I found a newt or salamander that was reddish orange with black spots/stripes - about 6-7 inches long in my garage and am trying to figure out what it was - or if it was a wild one or someone's lost pet. I live in California.

hi that is the red salamander it is dangrously toxic if ingested and imists skin toxins so if u keep it handle it a little as posible if u put your hands in your mouth or touched your eye after touching it u should consult a docter. o and i dought it was a pet most likly wild. do u live realy close to a woods and a creek? if u have aol or aol instant messenger i can tell u more about the salamander because i g2g now.
