Florida Similis questions

budman 1st Apr 20, 2004 05:14 PM

I was reading on how they were first introduced to gasparilla island.
So my first question is are they geneticly ok since they all interbred with their siblings.

Second question, how long does it take for a spinytail to get
full size ? whats their life expectancy?

here is a pic of a yearling they seem to be all over even into cape haze.

This pic is a little blurry but I have tape so asap I will try to get a better shot of this guy.

I can give directions to this guy becuase his hole is about 100yds east from the gasparilla light house and ranger station.
He is safe nobody would even get close to him but he is a camera hog from a far zoom deal.

He is as big as they get look at the spines laid over.
What is their diet how do they get water Can they drink salt water?
what do you think any spiny stories?
