braveheart Apr 20, 2004 06:13 PM

hey...i was wondering should i mist my 8 wks old beardys in or out there vivarium???you guys said mist every second day but dont want to mist in viv if it will creat high humidity?????also one of my wee guys is rubbing his nose continualy on the rock so im guesing he is ready to shed and needs more misting right??????

ps..my caiman is in a 11 ft by 6 ft enclosure(whole room just for him) so when he gets bigger and meaner he will still be in there...lol.and it is impossible to get any meaner than he is...but thats crocs...hes not for patting although i do care for him and tend to his needs hes never gonna be like my labradors..haha..in the pic he was waiting to go into new enclosure he wasnt lying on my couch..lmao... anyway advise on misting would be appreaciated as im misting in viv at moment

I would take them out to mist them for two reasons...... so it won't effect the humidity, and so the water won't absorb into and substrate/wood furnishings/etc. creating possible bacteria and mold.

And yeah, misting helps them out in the days leading up to shed, but on the day they are shedding it off, I don't spray them. It seems easier for them to flake it off when it's dry.

thanks..i thought that about humidity..my iguana is opposite..lol...also when my wee guys come out they all fall asleep on me within 5 mins..is this normal????everytime they do it..i was starting to wonder if they do this when there stressed or something.or if my viv was too hot.but my temps are perfect..although they seem to prefer lower temps..(iguana and beardys in diffrent room)

Sounds like they are comfortable with you and enjoy the time you hold them
