First the good news.....My new female WILL eat mealworms, i just have to hand feed them to her (hopefully just until she figures out theres an entire bowl full of them available).
What i'm freaking out about.....I noticed last night that *Coco's* right eye looked really glazed over. She wasn't interested in me taking a closer look so i left it. Today i picked up a few crickets to see if that would grab her attention and it did......but she was going at them from her left side. I had just put the bag of crickets in there to see what she would do then figured i'd try to hand feed her some mealies before releasing the crickets LOL.
She gobbled back about 6-10 mealworms and in the process i got a good look at her eye. There is something in it for sure...almost looks like a piece of shed skin. What i'm concerned about is an actual injury to the eye. In bringing her home i had the top off the cooler so i could watch the geckos on the way home. We had to slam on the brakes to avoid an accident waiting to happen (city drivers drive me nuts!) and Coco took a header into the side of her container. By the way i wasn't driving.
I can't take her to the vet today....its to late. I'm just thinking i'm over reacting and that it jsut might be something in her eye, in which case, HOW do i get it out?
She is the absolute sweetest gecko. When i fed her she didn't jump at the mealworms like my other leos do. She first got a good look at it then calmly took it from me. Once that one was gone she would look up at me, then at my hand and wait for the next one.
I've also noticed that she HATES light. When i turn them on she sticks just her head into her hide out of the light. As long as i am on her left side she doesn't freak out but if i am on her right side and i move, she bolts to hide, so it looks like she can see.
So general concenses?
A. vet visit tomorrow
B. suggestions on how i can remove the thing from her eye
C. Give it another day and see if it comes out or gets better. If not take her to the vet.
This problem wasn't there when i picked her up at the show!
Thanks for any help

P.S. i've also picked up some very very small crickets for my aft's as they too didn't seem interested in the mealworms. Although i haven't tried hand feeding yet.
