I HAVE TWO TEGUS, A B&W MALE CHACOAN, AND A RED FEMALE, THEY ARE HOUSED SEPARATELY. I GOT MY B&W TWO MONTHS AGO AND MY FEMALE IS OVER A YEAR OLD. I CAUGHT MY B&W DOING SOMETHING I NEVER SEEN MY RED OR ANY OTHER TEGU DO BEFORE, I PUT IN A FOOD DISH FILLED WITH SPECIALIZED TURKEY MEATBALLS INTO HIS TANK AND HE ATE UNTIL HE WAS FULL AND HE DUG A HOLE IN THE SUBSTRATE, THEN HE PUSHED THE REMAINING FOOD OUT OF THE DISH INTO THE HOLE AND BURIED IT. I NEVER SEEN A REPTILE DO THAT BEFORE AND FOUND IT VERY INTERESTING. HAS ANYONE ELSE EVER WITNESSED THIS ON THEIR OWN TEGUS OR ANYOTHER REPTILES?????? PLEASE TELL ME !!!!!!

Hi,

Meego did that once with a mouse, he ate one, killed the other one, and realized that he was too full to eat it, so he buried it in his mulch....I thought it was very interesting!! He was kinda mad when I dug it up, cleaned it off, and put it in the freezer! hee hee

Well mine does this just about every time he eats. I feed on a plate so once hes full he buries the food and the plate. If i dont give him enough food and he eats it all he still buries the plate. Idunno i think its kinda funny exept for i sometimes forget about the plates and when i clean the enclosure i find like 3 of them under 6 inches of cypress.
