Problems with biting

sirfugu Apr 20, 2004 07:25 PM

I've had my leo Samir for about 3 weeks and the only time I have successfully handled him was when I was putting him in his cage for the first time. Since then he has bitten me twice when I have tried to pick him up. There is a catch however. Both times I had been wearing white plastic gloves because my hands are broken open from the cold and I don't want to risk getting salmonella or anything like that. I may be a little paranoid. But my question is does anyone think the reason he is biting is because he thinks the white gloves are food? Should I just go at it without the gloves and see what happens? Any help or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

does he taste you before he bites?....i find that my little asia tastes me to make sure its me before she gets in my hand.....she also does this when i hand feed her....it might be the way the gloves taste.

im not sure but i hadnt thought about that tho. i think i'll try tonite without the gloves and if he still bites then i guess i just got an angry gecko. thanks for the comments.
