chris,
. I should start out by saying that IMO there are way too many small shows and the competition of so many small local shows makes it so that there are not enough really good big shows. I would rather drive 100 miles to see 100 vendors than drive 10 miles to see 10 vendors. But when a reptile show comes close to home I am gonna be there. Our Savannah Herp Society had one table which was given to us by the show management to promote our club. We also paid for one other table in case any members wanted to sell excess animals. As it turned out we only had two snakes for sale and used all of both tables showing off our pets. I would think that the show management got a good return for the free table they let us have as we had some really nice animals on display and because there were so few vendors our display was a big part of the show. There were only about a dozen vendors at the show. There were enough animals for sale and just enough variety to make it nice as a little local show but if someone were to have driven 50 miles looking for lots of high end animals for sale they would have been very disappointed. The selection of Boas and Pythons for sale was small. Alan Bosch was one of the vendors and did have one of his Albino Ball breeders on display plus several other very nice boids for sale. One of our club members bought a nice pet Bci from him. Other vendors were primarily selling WC animals. One dealer had some nice clean baby Borneo Bloods for sale on his tables. One of our club members got what I think was a super deal on a "pair" of Red Ackies. The show was very well run and it is just too bad that there could not have been more dealers selling animals so that it would have been a good regional show rather than just a pleasant local show. I believe there were 600 paid visitors to the show but many of them were obviously not serious reptile enthusiasts. A few vendors said they sold enough to make the show worthwhile for them. Several of our club members had never been to any reptile show and they seemed to have a very good time. We also talked to quite a few local people who were interested in reptiles and did not know about our club. So all in all I would say it was a positive experience.

glad to hear...there isn't enough good PR for reptiles. too bad about all the WC for sale. i think there is alot of potential for bad "first timer" experiences with that.
thanks, chris
