How long to breed?

coolj9688 Apr 20, 2004 09:49 PM

I just got a new male for my female on sunday afternoon. (April 18th) They have been together since then. Both are full grown. (4 and 5 years old) I was wondering how long it usually takes before they breed and how long after a succesful breeding does the female start to show shes gravid?

Thanks,
Justin

First when you get a new dragon it should be quartined for about 2 months for the safe health of your existing dragon. Also after they mate they must be separated so that the mother does not get stressed out by the male continuing to try and mate. Third do a lot of research online because babies are a lot of work. Sorry I am preaching but it sounded to me like you did not research this move completely, maybe I'm wrong.

Agreed! I don't want to sound mean or anything here, but putting that male in with her from day one was a BIG no no! He may look healthy, but you never know what he may be hiding health wise.

A lot of sites have breeding info listed on them. I would suggest a google search and lot and lots of research.
