Quick help needed!

My bearded dragon just startled me as it was moving about its enclosure rapidly and in a startling way. When I move close or place my hand near it lunges at me. It appears to possibly have swallowed sand as it is stuck to it's tongue and mouth. Is there a reason it would have done this and what should I do. Before moving about quickly it had been sleeping with it's light off. Help is appreciated.

It appears to be back to normal now, but I am curious as to why this behavior may occur. Is there some health reason as to why it would swallow sand, as it wasn't feeding and couldn't have swallowed by lunging for food. Thank you

My guess is he got startled and woken up.
While running around like a crazy fool he got a mouthful of sand.
