Critter Country Pellets as Substrate?

Giantrobo Apr 21, 2004 04:31 AM

I'm sorry if this has been posted before. I did a search and I didn't find any mentions of it. But that's not to say it hasn't....

I wanted to know if anyone else here has tried them.

The pellets are made from Western Red Winter Wheat Grass and other fibers and are heat treated for molds, fungi, and insects. Also, when I put it in my tank there was no dust. They're slightly lighter in color than green rabbit’s pellets and they break up in water. I dropped some in the toilet to test this and it worked.

It seems to me if one is good about keeping things clean daily then there shouldn't be any problems.

What do you think?

my freind just got two beardies, and he uses rabbit pellets so that the beardies wont get impactions. so they probably work

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. When I bought them they had been raised on Rabbit Pellets but I switched to paper towels when they were being treated for parasites. I've been looking for the right substrate ever since.

I hadn't heard anyone mention "Critter Country" in particular so I wanted to know what was up with it.
