Water question

techno_peasant Apr 21, 2004 06:39 AM

I haven't seen any specific reference to water dishes in any of the care sheets/articles/etc. Ive looked at. My (naive) assumption is that they get their water supply from the misting they receive, but just to be on the safe side, I've put a small water dish in w/ my sikorae. As far as I can tell, it's only use is drowning crickets *grin*. Can/should I remove it?

Is there any way to restrict forum searches on kingsnake.com to a particular forum? Every time I do a search, I have to wade through a ton of irrelevancies (even w/ pretty good search terms) because I'm getting hits on all forums...

Bad news - after a week of quarantine, my female sikorae died. She had been eating and was getting misted 3 - 4 times a day and temp. was not a problem. Monday night at 5PM she looked fine - at the 10PM misting she was dead on the floor of the enclosure . My male seems to be doing well - eating approx. 6 small crickets per night. I'm going to give him another week to settle in, then do the fecal/worm thang. Wish me luck - these really are fantastically interesting critters.

Sorry about your girl, thats a darn shame.

As far as water, I have henkeli's and I always have a plastic dish of water, in there, besides the daily mistings.

Good luck with your male, hope he does well !

Guess he needs a new girl friend soon, when you feel better!

Thanks for the info and your kind words. A girlfriend (for the Uroplatus) is definitely in the cards. I'll try for a CB girl, after I prove to myself that I can do a good job maintaining my WC male. I do want to breed these buggers, but that's - obviously - a ways down the road...
