color morph inquiry

biga35 Apr 21, 2004 07:50 AM

Just starting to research color morph options for my bearded dragon purchase. With all the color variations and hypo's and all -- I was wondering if there's a good site/gallery with a nice breakdown of the various morphs. I was leaning towards a soft orange/bright yellow direction. Recomendations? Thanks.

If you are wanting to breed beardies that are lighter or more pastleish in color with reduced black you should go with the hypo pastel lines. Otherwise you will get less than satisfactroy results for what your goals are. A couple places to look would be www.dachiu.com as they have some very nice hypo asptel lines witht the colors you are looking for and also MattMan who is a regular poster on here is also going to have some nice orange pastels this year though I don't know if he has a web site yet you can contact him through email in this forum. Hope this helps and if you have anymore questions about the genetics and the different hypo/snow, hypopastel, or color bloodlines please let me know I'll do my best to help.

Thanks so much for the recommendation Robert. I have a clutch about to hatch from my redflame orange snow cross Foster X Candy. Both were very light orange/yellows/pinks as babies with not much of a dark pattern at all. They grew up and colored to have full body orange. Foster orange with yellow reticulations, and Candy loosing almost all hints of pattern and is full body orange even down the tail where most are striped she is all orange. Buddy my hypo pastel did not breed yet this year, but the one I really wanted Foster X Candy worked out, so I'm very pleased and excited to have these little ones hatching any time now. So far I'm going to have two breedings this season both studded by Foster and the two females Candy & Anna. Anna is a large red/gold German giant. Pictures of the parents as babies and adults can be seen on my web page and on my webshots gallery, links below. Thanks
