Has anyone used a misting system? If so, what brand is good?

For the money ($40) the ZooMed Habba Mist works well.

The other option is to custom build one.

It depends on if you are wanting an indoor or outdoor misting system. For outdoor systems I use a patio mister that is sold at your local Home Depot/Lowes. For indoor systems I like the Mr. Moisture and Pro-Mist systems. I have not used either system but both look like they are good systems.

It would be for indoor use. Also, I've heard some are noisy. Has anyone had experience with that?

We use both the Mr. Moisture and the Mr. Moisture Pro.

The pro system handles more nozzles, but is alot more expensive. The system itself if only 100 bucks more, but the tubing it requires is expensive, and it all adds up with the number of cages you have.

The Mr. Moisture handles only 12 nozzles. The pumps are very loud.

If you time them properly, you should not have to worry about draining as most of the water will evaporate before the next mist goes off. However, if you are dealing with a species that requires alot of water, you will have to think about how to drain the water.

Either way, misting systems are the way to go. They will provide your chameleons with water throughout the day, and you won't have to worry about refilling a dripper or going home to spray your animals.

I've been thinking about getting the Mr. Moisture myself once I build this new cage. How loud is it exactly? It's not as loud like a blow dryer or anything is it?

if i am sussposed to spray my cham with warm water, wont a mister spray out cool water. I am thinking a bout a mister, but i only have one cham, so it might not be worth it. do they make a mister that heats the water????

Has anyone used the Rainmaker JR?

>>Has anyone used the Rainmaker JR?

I have. I like it a lot except I had so many enclosures on the system on for so long that I had to refill the reservoir regularly enough that I missed it once and burned the pump out. I replaced the pump with the normal Rainmaker pump which can run dry and I haven't had a problem since. Even if I miss it, it won't damage it. I would recommend going with the better pump. It can go for much longer at any given time (I run them for a half hour at a time) and can run dry. The Jr. pump can only go for 4 mins at a time before it needs a 1 min cool down and it can't run dry. I love my Rainmaker system. Quite, efficient and easy! I'd recommend them any day.

I know the ZooMed Habba-Mist is at the bottom end of the list, but for the money it is pretty good. I purchased an extra nozzle and tube and split the main tube using a little aquarium pump valve, and it still drives both nozzles just fine. This way I can mist my entire cage. For one chameleon, I recommend it. It clips right onto the side of the cage. It's all one unit, which is cool. The only drawbacks are that it's a little loud [who cares?] and the reservoir isn't that big, at 28 ounces. But it keeps my Cham well watered all day while I'm at work.
