PA legislation introduced to repeal restrictive turtle statute

fredbruckman Apr 21, 2004 08:48 AM

House Bill 2589, introduced last week, will repeal the statute requiring salmonella testing prior to the sale of turtles in PA and replace it with the federal "four inch rule". It also requires sellers to provide buyers with care information and proper hygene instructions from the CDC.

Please let your state representative know that you support this legislation. I will post when it gets to the Senate.

Anyone with questions can email me directly at bruckman@westol.com

Here is the link to find contact information for your pa state rep

The bill has been refered back to the agriculture and rural affairs comittee. In addition to your own representatives it would be helpful if you could contact the members of the committee or at least the chairman in support of the bill. The most effective way to support the bill is a snail mail letter with a follow up phone call, but email helps if that is all you have time for.
