Anyone who went to the Hamburg PA Show, what's your opinion??

peterfromme Jun 14, 2003 08:46 PM

Hi,

I went to the Hamburg PA Show this afternoon. Overall, they had a large selection of reptiles to choose from. I've never seen so many poisonous snakes before!!

It was amazing to see burmese pythons, african rocks, and ball pythons priced at $20 and below!!

They had plenty of common columbian boas available, but to many morphs.

One thing that struck me...NO one was buying...
I was able to bounce back from table to table and anything that I was interested in was always available. I think the kingsnake classified section has a MUCH better selection....

I'm curious to know what others thought....

Thanks,

Peter F.

I went also, and got my usual supply of frozen food.

That's an interesting observation about no one buying; now that I think of it I didn't see too many folks carrying bags or containers either.

I saw some very nice, clean Colombian boa babies for 90 bucks.

The hot stuff is always interesting; this time I didn't see the guy with the baby gilas -- they're always fun to look at.

Also, the two adult indigos were a nice treat -- that's a first.

Next month -- White Plains, NY.

Regards,

Bill

I see this more and more every time. It seems with the smaller shows now more people from the general public are coming in to just "look" at all the snakes, perhaps from more reptile coverage from shows on Discovery/Animal Planet focusing on reptiles.

Oh, you mean the people that never buy anything but are always in the way while you are trying to make a purchase? Or the people that stand 10 feet away from the table and take a picture, but if they get any closer to someone with a snake out of its container they would scream like a sissy? I love those people, lol.

How about the one's trying to sqeeze baby strollers down the smallest and busiest aisles? Nothing annoying about that!

Bill S. Jun 15, 2003 12:42 PM

And let's not forget the ones with the strollers who stand in the middle of a crowded aisle and carry on a conversation with another spectator.

Or the idiots who wander aimlessly without watching where they're walking, bumping into everyone who crosses their path without uttering so much as a "pardon me".

KeoniKoch Jun 15, 2003 11:14 PM

How about the group of guys that sit at one table and look at the same thing for about twenty minutes while you are attempting to look over their stinky, sweaty, non conversational, no buying a$#es.

I saw some good an bad things there. Like the guys with a huge tank / coffin filled to the brim with baby savanahs caked with feces and stinking up the whole isle. Or the guy selling a $40 GTP with a URI saying is a gamble. Some of the vendors are truley good people and others I wouldn't wipe my @ss with. It was a good show overall, but geez get some air conditioning! It was like 150 degrees in that place. You know its hot when you see the hundreds of live rats packed in a cage SWEATING and gasping for air.
