I like Rococo toads, Christmas toads and Colorado river toads are also nice.
My favourite toads are 1) Colorado river toads, (I own 12 of them.)
2) Rococo toads, and 3) Cane/Marine toads.
I tried to email you nack but it was bounced so I thought I would reply here.
We have only had our 2 Xmas Toads a week now. I have them in a set up that was for some Leo's we had which was 50/50 in a 45 gallon terrarium. Now it is set up as a bi-level land with a water bowl. The higher level has the water bowl, a nice driftwood with a pile of rocks for them to climb on and a bunch of plants. The lower level has two larger rock piles, one built from large river rock, the other is a waterfall piece... sort of a pyramid shaped rock that fits into the corner of the enclosure. There is also a hollow tree trunk structure for added hiding and climbing. Between the two levels is a piece of plexi at a 45* angle with rocks fixed to it that used to separate the land from the water but now acts as a rocky hill for them to climb. I mist them 2 or 3 times a day (more if it is warmer in the apartment to try anf keep them cooler) So far they have only been fed pinhead crickets every other day (every other feeding dusted)
They are VERY active, always walking, climbing and hopping all over the place. They are both VERY hearty eaters. (Putting away about 10 pinheads a piece each feeding)
I have been reading and hearing about a lot of people loosing them after 3 or 4 months and I'm REALLY hopping that doesn't happen to us. We would really LOVE to get about 6 more because they are just so wonderful! But with so little information on them out there we are almost afraid to spend the money to get more if they are only going to die in a few months.
There is a place about an hour and a half from us that carries them and I am going to call or email them to see if they have any other info on them.
Going on where they are from I am trying very hard to make the enclosure as close to "natual" for them as possible. We keep our apartment between 72 and 78 degrees so there shouldn't be too much worry about them getting too warm in the summer.
I'm hoping to gain more information on them and be able to come back with a positive report. I will post any new info I am able to get on them to help others succeed in keeping them longer than 4 months.
Go to my site for a care sheet. I too lost mine after about 3 months, good luck.

B. varigatus all the way!!!
Here's a pic of our two. We plan to get about 8 more!!!

Kepp these guys going a while and then get more. Make sure you have about 4 10 gallons ready if you want 8. Quarintine is important, especially with these guys since most die later on.

My favorite partular toad was a Fowlers i had as a kid. My first anuran pet. Found him struggling to stay afloat in a nearby lake, against cement breakwalls that were vertical and impossible to climb. He would eat crickets from my hand, and once got away when I had him in a flimsy box in the garage while cleaning his tank (hey, we were all young once.) My mother found him about a week later, hiding under the garbage cans, and screamed, and I knew right away he was back. He lived for a few years before dying of some kinda impaction involving gravel stuff in his substrate, wish I knew better back then.
