is there a way to "clean up" wood that you find in the woods etc. to use in a cage? i found some that'd i'd like to use, but i don't want any bugs or parasites or anything like that, but i also don't want to sanitize it with harmful chemicals. please give advice!!
thanks!

All wood bought or found should be wrapped it in foil and cooked for 30 minutes or so at 250 degrees. Other preparation probably depends on the wood you use but my best guess is to make sure it's totally dry (no sap remaining)& has no soil or decomposing material remaining. I've only used a few dead pieces I found in the desert so they were practically ready to use after baking.

i like to bake it in the oven at 350 for 45 minutes. Then peel off the bark, then if there is dirt and stuff in it i scrub with a 1:8 bleach to water ratio. Then let it cure for a few days.
