Well, we finally found a big beautiful male for our female. Within 5 seconds of putting them together they were breeding!

I always thought a cooling period was needing to promote breeding! It was instant...male on top of female, biting neck, the rest I'll let you use your imagination.

How long is the gestation period for malis? I'd suspect 4-6 weeks but just looking for confirmation. Also, what temps should the eggs be at? if we even get eggs...hopefully we do.

I'll keep everyone posted.

all I can offer up is a congratulations. el-toro seems fairly knowledgable. maybe try robyn, doug dix or someone like that if no luck here.

eek! I'm no expert!! I read a lot and have a couple healthy guys of my own. But I know nothing about the breeding habits/process! Doug has lots of info on his site, and I'm sure there's other sites and people successfully breeding their charges.

Congrats! I hope to try breeding my Saharans next year if all goes well!
