I researched for months on the care of BPs and decided to buy one. To make a long story short, I got RIPPED OFF! I ordered a female hatchling CB healthy shed and fed once, I also ordered 2 hides, a water dish and a climb branch. Total was $88 for it all, he said he messed up on the price, and he would give it to me that cheap because it was his error. When the box came, it was an old box from something he got with stickers over old ones, I opened it and no insulation, heat pad NOTHING but balled up paper bag! Mind you it was November and this snake came to Michigan from Miami, with NO heat or insulation! When I slowly pulled off the crumpled paper, I saw a "snake bag" made from a heavy paper towl (the blue ones) and stapled shut, with a gap between 2 of the staples, nothing in the bag but tiny pieces of BAD shed. When I got to the bottom of the box, there she was a 2 & 1/2 foot female with WHORIBBLE shedding problems, frozen in a ball! I think she was WC too, She had a BAD cold, but with 3 weeks of temps in the 90-100 degree range she was OK, but still had stuck eye caps, the end of the tail had retained shed and shed pieces stuck all over, I FINALLY got her all healthy, and she was a BABY! What a sweetie!! I had her for some time and LOVED her. My friend was looking for a snake, but he didn't know where to go and was going to go to the pet store. His son really wanted another snake, and I knew he knew how to care for them (he had them before). So I sold her to him, she was there for a few months and while he was out of town, she SOME HOW got out, it was about 30-40 degrees out side and he was mid moving so nothing was on heat wise. I thought for sure she was a goner, It had been like a month. Suddenly she just poped up. The neighbor took her, they said they had a couple BPs before. Come to find out, they have NO CLUE what there doing, no hide box, still in a 20 gallon long tank! They asked my friend if he wanted her back because she "turned mean and bites all the time", well woulden't you be in a pissy mood?? So I told them I want her back, I will be getting her either tonight or tomorrow. She may even become a breeder! Not till she goes through some rehab with LOTS of TLC though. I miss my Baby! My first snake (besides back yard finds LOL)! She was a sweety too! I will get her back to the sweet ol Baby I know she is. Her name really was Baby because she was so sweet, and she would only let me hold her, she would ball up for other people, she was momma's baby! I miss her, and will have a male for her when she is ready. Just thought I would share the story.
