Just layed eggs full of veins and embryo?

Passport Apr 21, 2004 09:05 PM

My lovely female Brooksi layed her clutch on Monday evening. I checked on them tonight and just for fun candled them in the incubator. They are full of veins and obviously fertile. Now I'm wondering if this is normal? For some reason I thought they would be clear like chicken eggs or my tortoise eggs. I was surprised to see so much life in them. I see also some slight dimpling. Is that normal? Or should I add more water to the vermiculite?

Okay, so I'm just joking a bit there.

Yes, the kingsnake eggs should have veins if you candle them. Full of life! Congrats on some good eggs! If they dimple too much I would increase the humidity/moisture level of the vermiculite. Not too much though.

I'm looking forward to hearing about them when they hatch! I have 2 kings and 2 corns who all went blue in the last day or two... darnitall they're all goign to lay at the same exact time.

Good Luck!!!
