Black milk snake question

chicagopsych Jun 14, 2003 09:38 PM

Thinking of getting a black milk. What is the average (not max) adult size of black milk snakes? Does this average differ depending on what line the snake is part of? How thick are they in comparison to a brooksi or eastern king of the same length? Thanks in advance.

5-6 feet is average adult size. Much bigger i girth than the easterns and brooksi's.

Mine are right about the same size (length and weight) as my eastern kings.

I think it's fair to say close to six feet is average. I've seen SO many reference books say "42-60 inches" or so, but the breeders I've seen have all been massive. The San Antonio lines are known for being large. I have a photo of the "dad" of my female, I'll try to post it. I can't wait for mine to reach breeding size and I can tell you, you'll love working with these animals! Great temperment, fantastic feeding response, pretty inactive as adults.
I think they run larger than kings, but I've seen some pretty big easterns.
