Crested Gecko Eggs?

bblack Apr 21, 2004 10:15 PM

I was just checking out my eggs and I noticed I had a few bad eggs in the incubator..For some reason this year a few of my new cresteds that are 1st year breeders are not giving me good eggs..Well on these bad eggs I noticed little white bugs, not round but worm like..real nasty ...When after you see them the hair on your neck starts to itch..
Anyone know what these little what bugs are called..They were only found on the molding eggs..

Thanks,
Bill

I dont know.
I have not seen this.
The only thign I can guess that there is some kind of Endoparasites going on there...but I can't guess which one.

A small dose of Panacur may help, but you are open to reinfection if you dont know exactly WHICH parasite, and how to get rid of it for good.

The other posibility is that it is something that has attacked the egg AFTER it was laid....but my guess is if it is worm like it is a parasite.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.

I've seen the same sort of thing on some of my eggs... they were bad, of course, but I've also had some good eggs that hatched so I'm not sure if the problem was the egg or the lizard that laid it... sorry I'm not much help but my geckos are fine so I'm pretty sure it's not a parasite.

Could be a maggot or beetle larvae of some sort that is eating the rotting egg.
