Hi everyone. I have a JCP that is about 8-10 months old. He is still pretty small and skinny. I am currently feeding him 1 adult F/T adult mouse a week. Last time I tried to feed him 2 he didnt seem interested in the second. My question is, at what point should I switch him over to Rats? He doesnt seem big enough right now to handle rats. Would I have to start him on pinky rats because nowhere around here sells them. The smallest I can find is a medium rat. Any suggestions/comments are appreciated. Thanks.

If he's eating adult mice he can eat pinky/fuzzy rats. you can buy them frozen from a rodent vendor via the internet if you don't have a supply near you. Also if you do have a herp store near by they may be willing to order in frozen rat fuzzies if you ask.

Biggest thing is Jungles can get in a rut about food. Its best to switch them asap just in case, because the older they get the more difficult in can get if you have a picky eater (and more expernsive).

I switched my jcp to rats after she was eating 2 adult mice. She is up to medium rats now and 4 feet long. When I offered her her first small rat I didn't think she could eat it. I thought it would be to big but she ate it. I have heard the sooner the better to switch to rats. Hopefully yours will switch with no problems. Mine did. Just my thoughts. :0)

I just switched mine from fuzzy mice to pinky rats, they are huge for her but don't tell her that and seh keeps them down so i can't complain. She still wont take a killed pinky rat only live ones.
