Kingsnakes and Water

downway69 Apr 21, 2004 11:31 PM

I have a California King and he is great. He is about 1 1/2 years old and HE LOVES TO SWIM! Especially when he is preparing to shed he will spend the entire day in his water dish. I mean he spends a good 12 hours in his dish. I have pictures but don't know how to post. I always think its funny because then he goes burrowing and gets really dirty. Anyway, occasionally when he isn't shedding he will spend some time in his dish and other times I will see him just dip his head in the water. This is nothing I am concerned with I just think its kinda funny. His temperatures are correct so I don't think he is too hot and trying to cool down I think he just wants to chill out and relax in his "pool". Anyone else's King love to swim?

i have a desert king and they do have a awesome personality, and make great captives, he too likes the water but i have seemed to notice that he is only soaking when im not in the room as soon as i enter he hightails it outta the bathing bowl...not sure why this is might be cuz i have only had him for a couple of months now, do u have your king in a hidden soaking spot or is it out in the open? (curiously wondering)

My kingsnake's water bowl is out in the open on the opposite side of his heat source

My Eastern loves his bowl. He'll sometimes tie himself into a big knot in his bowl and stay there for hours. Here's an older pic of him hanging out in his bowl. I have a different bowl now (as he's a bit bigger) with a branch hanging over it, he hangs from his branch and swims
