Molly the Hermann's tortoise is a male

DaviDC. Apr 22, 2004 12:42 AM

My 4 year old cb hermanns was hatched at a higher temp to be a female & even has 4 scutes instead of 5 because of this. Therefore, I assumed it was female. Since waking from hibernation weeks ago, Molly has been VERY frisky & tried to mount the 3 year old cb russian & I've noticed how long 'her' tail is. Last night I finally got around to doing a bit of research & have discovered that Molly is a male. Now I just hope that my little 8 month old hermanns turns out to be a female.

Note to self: give any future hatchlings I should acquire gender neutral names.
