Amazing little snake you have there. He seems to be about the same size as a new born normal. Beautiful pattern. I wish the best for you on this new project Samantha. Todd

Thanks Todd. He is about the same size now at close to 5 months old as a "normal" hatchling burm. Here is a pic just after hatching for size comparison. The future looks good on these. Smaller animals, smaller clutch size, lots of morphs to breed them too. The market wont crash as fast as the original albinos did. Remember at that time there was nothing to breed the albinos to other than normals. So once you produced albinos which everyone did, there was nothing else to do.

Anyway, they are cool.. You ever make it to AZ you should check them out in person..

Good to see you back safe from Iraq. Did you get a chance to see any herps there??

Thanks for the invite and in a few years I will be relocating permanetly to Texas so maybe I will be able to take a short little trip to see your collection. As far as the herps I saw in Iraq, I caught severel types of swifts? and some really huge spiny tail lizards. These were the largest spiny tails I have ever seen. they were pushing 36" long and were quite impressive. The best capture I had though was of a sand fish. this was such a cool little lizard. I was incredibly lucky to capture him because they spend almost all their time under the sand. As far as snakes go there was one colubrid which I caught that I wasn't able to accurately identify but looked simuliar to our racers and I saw several saw-scaled vipers but unfortanetely some one had already killed them before I got there. On three occassions there was sightings of Egyptian Cobras but by the time I got there they had vanished. I was extremely bummed. I have always wanted to capture a cobra(not a spitter though) and once again I missed the chance.
While I was in Somalia, I did get to capture a sand viper and a monitor. The viper I had to kill because it bit someone and I had to take it to the medics with the patient but the monitor I kept around for a week or so before letting it go. Jsut for all to know all the specimens that I caught in either place were released back to the wild unharmed. Anyway, enough rambling. Incredible little snakes you have there. I am looking forward to the day when I can view them in person and eventually add them to my own collection. Good luck with everything, Todd

how big do the dwarfs get?
I would love a burm but my girlfriend says she doesnt want any snake bigger than 10 feet in the house.

Savanna can answer this more exactly but I will put in what I know. The wild caught specimens that hatched the baby is about 6' compared to a normal that breeds at about 9' . Now since this is the first generation honastly no one knows for sure what their true size potential really is but by the small breeding size and the tiny babies they appear to be authentic. As far as getting them be prepared to spend like 5 digits. Hope this helps a little. Todd

So far the biggest is still around 7' long. There are a few breeders trying to work with these now, so hopefully in a few years they will become available to the public. The public needs to have a choice between 20 foot animals or 7 foot animals.

Here is one of the females who bred and produced for me. She was 5' maybe just under and 9 pounds while gravid.
