Cypress mulch question

I just finished my new tegu home, if I buy bulk bags of mulch from a hardware store, is it gonna be clean, or should I cook if for a while first? It's too costly to buy clean from a pet store. Thanks

I used 100 bags in my tegu pen so it is not economical to do anything other than spread it around. It is generally safe and I have never had a problem nor do I know anyone who has. I have heard of mites being in the mulch, but never first hand. If you do not feed insects, you could spray it with black knight first.
