My Snake Died

aspen0 Jun 14, 2003 10:00 PM

I bought a second boa from these forums a month and a half or so ago. It appeared healthy when it arrived, and I had a vet check him out and all was good. The snake was very young - a late march early april birth probably.

He never shed, not in my care, but I fed him successfully 6 times, and he was pooping and fairly active.

I visited my parents for fathers day today and when I got back I noticed him belly up in the middle of his cage under the light.

I have no idea why he died. He never appeared sick. The only thing I can think of is the poor thing overheated -- it was a hot day today and the cage temp said 95 but where he was it was probably more... still there were plenty of places in the cage that the little guy could have used to get out of the light, and he usually did use them.

My Female Cay Caulker died for no apparent reason. My temps were all good. She was eating fine. Fed her on Monday and she died on Sunday. Just went lethargic and died. Sorry for your loss, I understand fully Do you live in Kansas City, MO by chance?
