Pitbull swimming with snapping turtle...HELP!!!

Dinobot711 Jun 14, 2003 10:03 PM

When I came home from work today I was told the unpleasent news that Chance was playing IN Bowser's stocktank. After making sure Chance had all her toes I heard the rest of the story and found out she was splashing around having a grand time ripping all my new water lettuce plants to tiny little shreds, just after one was growing sprouts. She also hit the filters return out of the tank so water was going all over the yard. Bowser was fine, just a little upset, but I definately don't want this to happen again. I remember seeing a pic of someones stock tank on this forum where they had a cover made out of that criss-cross fencing. I was thinking about maybe doing that but would that not let enough light in for the turtle and the plants? I am thinking about maybe trying to put up some sort of fence around it unless the top will work, or if theres any other ideas you guys can think of. Also, some of the plant pieces still have roots, is there anychance they will regrow? And I just wanted to say that Bowser finally broke his fast and started eating about 2 weeks ago. Of course the first thing he ate was the albino channel cat I bought the day before...Thanks in advance for any info!

I use a pre-hung chain link fencing gate as a top on one of my pens. It's pretty light and easy to move. I used some pipe brackets screwed to my fence so the gate rotates in them, making a simple hinge.

I didn't get a cover or a fence yet but I think what I did get will work. Today I got a 6 big potted plants (2 Tomato, 2 Hibiscus, 2 types of grasses) and put them around the stock tank and some garden decorations. With all those around it Chance can't get into it. Plus she knows she's not supposed to now. And it looks really nice with everything around. I think I'm gonna get a couple more plants just cause it came out so good.
