I have been searching for a vat to sex my snakes and they have all quoted me around $30.00 each, I finally found a gold nugget,
Stahl Exotic Animal Veterinary Services (SEAVS), Vienna Virginia,
$10.00 each or $30.00 for 4, just thought I would share this with any Washington DC locals.

If you're looking for someone to sex your snakes, you should contact your local breeder or herp society and they will probably do it for free.....

LOL.... if your having to look for group pricing deal on sexing i think its time for you to ask a vet to teach you how to do it, once you've learned it will be an easy enough thing to sex all your babies... I know its scary at first but you'll get the hang of it within no time...Good luck.. Remember you can give a man a fish and feed him for one day or you can teach a man to fish... well you know how it goes..

Sincerely,
Rose Hipskind

Scott Stahl is one of the best herp vets in the USA. Keeps herps himself, I believe.

I have been searching for a vat to sex my snakes

No vet within ten miles of our store even knows how to sex a snake.

Why not learn how to sex them yourself?

How emberrassing will it be when you go to sell them and won't know what the gender of your own offspring are?

Ball Pythons are the easiest snakes to sex. Bar none. Cornsnakes are close but balls are the easiest.

Gaboons, Rhinos, King cobras ect. are all much easier to sex than Ball pythons. All you have to do is look at them.

I've heard that rosy boas can be sexed by spurs (might take a magnifying glass for newborns) and they can't kill you so those might be the easiest.

Seriously, I think sexing isn't as easy as some think. I used to have serious herper friends sex snakes for me and they weren’t even right 50% of the time. Then I paid my vet (well known snake vet and author) and every now and then he would still scratch his head and try for a while before making a call on one. I've finally gotten to where I feel fairly confident that I can pop them accurately without hurting them right out of the egg but not so sure on older ones.

I've sexed Rosy Boas, but just popped them, as the spurs are way too small on new borns for me to see, and I wouldn't feel comfy selling an animal I wasn't sure of. By sexing the snakes I mentioned in the previous post, you would not even have to touch them. I have sexed alot of snakes, mostly venomous, but have yet to have a customer complain of a wrongly sexed snake.
