Hello,
I know I dont post very much, but I have encountered a problem with one of my geckos. Gypsy is almost 2 years old and i got her as a hatchling. I raised her up and when i finally got a male, I bred her to him as my first attempt at breeding these guys. she weighed about 90 grams then, and was eating great and was old enough and everything. she laid 2 clutches (only one egg made it out of all of them and is doing ok). she ate fine and everything during those two. then she started to lose weight. I didnt think much of it since i knew they lost a little of their supply to make the eggs.
then she stopped eating and her tail got a lot thinner. so i took her into the vets yesterday since i couldnt get her to eat, and she wasnt laying anymore. I found out that one of the eggs she still has inside her didnt form right, had gotten hard, and will not come out. the vet said that it probably started to attatch itself to the walls of her uterus. They need to go in to get it out
Thing is, surgery will cost $200. how im gonna come up with that i dont know, but thats not the point. anyone else ever have this happen? They will probably just remove the uterus, which is fine, and she is getting the surgery reguardless because she will die if she doesnt get it. i just was hoping i could hear success stories from anyone else who has had this done, and if the geckos were ok afterward and went back to normal and being healthy. Im just nervous because i had a bearded dragon go into surgery about 2 years ago just to remove an abcess, and he ended up passing away about a week after
so i am just nervous. thanks for any replies!
