As soon as I got my tegu off of ground turkey and went to feeding rats he stopped having shedding problems. I think the proper diet has everything to do with it. So, if you are not feeding rodents maybe give it a try? I almost forgot how vibrant my little buddies color was until I started with the rats. Just a thought as I had the same problem every time he shed. Best of luck!

Mine always sheds the tail 1-2 weeks after the rest of the body, so maybe you just need to continue soaking and keep everything humid and it'll take care of itself. How long has it been since he shed the rest of the body? I also agree with the previous post about diet, it makes all the difference. I have heard upping the fruit intake helps also. Hope this helps.

You might check temp and humidity. My tegu tank is large 9 1/2 x 3 x 3 and I put a mortar mixing pan with water in about the middle and humidity stays 70 or a little higher because of the evaporation. I also soak my tegu in the tub 3 - 4 times a week. It seems to help. Push the fruit. Mine likes pineapple chunks, apple (microwaved and mixed with egg), cantelope.

Mine also likes the rodents(mice and rats). I feed live and f/t. I fed him an adult mouse and when one of my snakes didn't take a small rat the tegu chased it down and ate it too. What a glutton. Eggs and cheese, mixed veggies and egg. Cheese fries, mashed potatos. Lots of variety. If he won't eat tale some tongs or large tweezers and wave it in front of the tegu. If they think something is getting away they will rush to eat.
