Nicked Tail

caraae Apr 22, 2004 12:51 PM

My baby beardie is 6 weeks old now, very active and friendly. Eats like a horse. I just noticed yesterday that there's a little nick at the tip of his tail, which makes it look a little kinked. It's a normal color. Should I be worried that it could break off? Is it possible for it to heal?

If it's an open wound, apply a triple antibiotic, like Neosporin. Yes, it could fall off, depending on the damage. You'll know if it's starts turning black and dry. Hopefully, this won't happen.. GL!

Thanks! It doesn't really look open, but I think I'll put some neosporin anyway. Good to know I can use it.

You just have to wait it out and see if the tail falls off or not. If the darkness/dryness starts moving up the tail, it needs to see a vet to be amputated. Most times though, when a tail does fall off, it just breaks off and they are fine....unless there is infection that needs to be treated.

Is there any chance of it just healing?
