Leopard frog question

sarahruss Apr 22, 2004 12:51 PM

Hi,I wanted to know whether a leo could live with minnows without eating them? I he is currently in a long 30 gallon tank. 2/3 of the tank is water with a strong filter. The water side adds up to 5 gallons of water. Is this enough space for them to be happy? I originally wanted them for feeders, but my 6 year old sister over heard and now she wants one for a pet.
Thanks,
Sarah

If the gravel slopes into the water, don't do it. The fish will enter shallow water and if the anuran is wading in the water, I can guarantee they will be dinner sooner or later, knowing leopard and bullfrog habits. I once had a baby bullfrog in a critter keeper with shallow water and rosy red minnows in there to feed him /her. I think you know what happened. How big are the minnows, and how big are the leopard frogs? If they are really big fish and the anuran is small, there is less of a chance.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. The gravel does slope into the water. The frog is about 3 in. long, and the minnows are about 1 or 2 in. long. When full grown the minnows will be 4 in. long. The frog is full grown.
