permit for non native reptiles

nolagurl Jun 14, 2003 11:04 PM

I'm spending the summer in Arizona so I haven't been able to attend the monthly meetings. I just noticed the post by Bill Watts on the club's website in regards to the State passing a bill for non native reptiles.

Does anyone know the exact details on this?

Melinda Schwegmann, the sponser of HB1468, agreed to modify it so that instead of "non-indigeous reptiles" that would be regulated by the LA Wild Life & Fisheries, it will be "non-indegeous constrictors 12 feet and longer and venomoue snakes". Any of these reptiles that you own before July 1, 2003 will be grandfathered. Also, some of our Society members will be allowed to participate on a committee that will make regulation recommendations to the LA WLF. ~Bill~
