Raising a Budgetts's Frog

Lenny Apr 22, 2004 07:06 PM

My Budgett's Frog stopped eating so I let him burry himself in some peatmoss. After 2 months I got worried so I dug him up again. He still refuses to eat. Any suggestions?

First, get that frog off of gravel. He is the perfect size to swallow a rock that is large enough to kill him. As for feeder fish, they should not make up the basis of the diet, which you made it sound like. Crickets and nightcrawlers make a better staple. As I have mentioned before, budgett's are not always an easy species to keep. They should be left to people with more experience. And you should not dig up a frog either. That will just stress it. If you want the frog to stop brumating, you should heavily rehydrate the terraria, which will cause the frog to emerge after a few days to a week.
