CITES interstate shipping - specifically Marginateds

ballshaun Jun 14, 2003 11:35 PM

According to the following site:
http://biology.uky.edu/palmer/cites.htm

Marginateds are CITES II. Do I need any proof of being CB if I am trying to ship from one state to another in the US assuming I am allowed to ship in the first place? Just for curiosity, are CITES I only allowed for intrastate shipping? Thanks. Shaun

CITES only deals with internatial import and export. The only thing you have to worry about with interstate transport is if the animal is a protected species as listed by USFW. In the process of writing this I realize that I'm not sure if that applies to animals that are protected in the US or world wide. The Lacey act deals with the transport of any protected species across state lines... you might have a problem there.
