Are they babies? If so, around 110 surface temp (not ambient) and if adults 105 surface temp.

They are in seperate enclosures for now. I have read every peice of information about them and it all seems different. They are siblings. What it the effects of line breeding them? They are a red/hypo x red. Would the effect cause some type of defformity? Thanks,
-Matt

I don't know all the details myself, since I don't breed animals. I do know this, however.... line-breeding is when two animals mated share common ancestors or relatives, but are not first degree relatives. When you breed two siblings or or a parent to an offspring, it is not line-breeding, it is in-breeding.

A quick google search on line-breeding and in-breeding will be very informative.

Hopefully some of the breeders here can share some more information on the negative effects of in-breeding dragons.

Problem is that because you can no longer import wild caught to diversify the genes and there weren't that many here to begin with most dragons have so much inbreeding and linebreeding in them already they are pretty much at or over the limits already. Yes there can be side effects like physical deformities, sickly animals, etc.

110-115 for young ones, and 100-110 for adults.

I don't know if you're housing them together or not.... but if you are, you'll have to seperate them soon. If they are young, he male will mate with the female before she is fully matured and ready. Even if they are full grown he will stress her out by continuing to breed with her even when she's gravid. Then after she lays the eggs he will breed with her again and again, she will never get a break and this can result in lots of stress. If you are new to this and still learning basic things like basking temps, then you should not take on the task of caring for dozens of eggs and hatchlings. Not to mention that if you got them at the same time from the same place, they are possibly siblings, so allowing them to breed is out of the question.

Maybe you already know all this...... but housing 2 beardies together is such a common mistake and misconseption that I feel like it has to be pointed out.
