DIY Misting

bluetip Apr 23, 2004 12:39 AM

Hi guys,

am trying to do a DIY misting system. I had recently bought misting nozzles used for gardens that spray really fine mist. I had stuck the nozzle to an end of a 2meter 1/2" tubing this is pumped on the other end with a 1200L/hr motor.

Problem is, the mist won't pump out of the nozzle probably requiring more power.

What would be a good powerhead size to get the mist out of the nozzle? Should I change my tubing size?

TIA

It is doubtful that you will ever get enough pressure from a typical impeller driven power head, no matter how great the flow. Try these options:

Or on a cheaper note you can get a pump sprayer from Lowes or HD and use it to drive your misting system.

A powerhead will never develop enough pressure to support even a small misting system. You need a pressure pump. If you look at the nozzle manufacturer's website you should find a spec that establishes a minimum system pressure for the nozzle to function at optimal rate and spray pattern. Remember that the more nozzles you have the greater the system pressure will decay.
